Derek is one of the most popular and highly respected saxophonists in the UK. He has been a full-time member of the Jools Holland R&B Orchestra since 2004 and is also a member Ronnie Scott’s Blues Explosion. He leads his own diverse and award-winning groups including his Acoustic Quartet, Sax Appeal, Protect the Beat, Picante and Some Kinda Wonderful. An inspirational mentor and bandleader, he has worked live and on television with such greats as David Sanborn, Tom Jones, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Amy Winehouse, Chaka Khan and Annie Lennox. In addition to performing, Derek is a prolific and respected composer and arranger, receiving commissions for his original work.
