Arabella Sprot
This trio is led by British saxophonist Arabella Sprot. Originally a Winchester girl, she went on to receive a double scholarship to Birmingham Music Conservatoire before moving to Berlin in 2014.
She has performed internationally, including at Montreux Jazz Festival, and prior to her move released an album with her UK band ‘ASQ’, entitled Kafka’s Dance. She is set to release a new record in 2017 with her new Berlin-based project, ‘Earshot’. Primarily a tenor saxophonist, but occasionally caught on soprano saxophone and flute, her influences lie somewhere in a triangle created by Stan Getz, Joe Lovano and Mark Turner.
This gig will feature a very special line up of nationally renowned hammond organ player John-Paul Gard and drummer Matt Brown, well-known for his integral role in the band ‘Dakhla’. The trio will play some popular and lesser known jazz standards, as well as a few of Arabella’s own compositions. It is a rare opportunity to see this line-up of outstanding musicians.
Arabella is supported by the Musicians’ Benevolent Fund. You can find more information and future gig dates here:
